Create funnel charts
Introduction
A funnel chart represents a sequence of steps a user takes to convert to a qualified goal. In Insights+, the funnel chart translates a sequence of steps customers go through to complete an objective(purchase).
A funnel chart helps visualize a linear process that has sequential connected stages. For example, for an email campaign funnel, a customer goes through these stages: link clicked > product page viewed > product clicked > product viewed > added to cart > cart viewed > purchase completed > points issued. The following image shows the different goals of email campaign tracking.
Prerequisites
- Need to enable behavioral events for the org. For details, see the configuration.
- Need access to Intouch and Insights+ library (create and modify).
- Need to know how to create a chart.
Create a funnel chart
To create a funnel chart, follow these steps.
- Navigate to Library > Charts > Funnel and click Create Chart.
- In the Chart Type, select Funnel using the drop-down list.
- In the Funnel Completion Time, enter the duration (in the number of days, weeks, or months) to complete all stages.
- Funnel completion time is the total duration that a user takes to complete the sequence of steps/stages to achieve a qualified goal.
Example: Consider you have selected a report duration of 30 days (December 1 to December 30) and a funnel completion time of 5 days.
Report duration | Customer’s funnel start date (first step)* | Customer’s funnel end date (last step) | Availability of funnel steps during analysis (report creation)** |
---|---|---|---|
December 1 to December 30 | December 5 | December 9 | Include the customer with all the steps |
December 1 to December 30 | December 28 | January 1 | Include the steps between December 28 to January 1 performed by the customer. |
December 1 to December 30 | December 20 | December 29 | Include the steps between December 20 to December 24 performed by the customer. |
December 1 to December 30 | December 20 | Not ended | Include the steps between December 20 to December 24 performed by the customer. |
- The first step should start within the report duration to be a part of the funnel chart analysis.
- The step calculation is based on funnel completion time - 5 days.
Hence, you can track the sum of the actions of all the customers who enter the funnel by performing Step 1, between December 1 to December 30, and exit it within 5 days by calculating; The number of converted customers between each step and The customer conversion rate between each step.
4. Click Add Step, and select the event name from the drop-down list.
- Click Add Filter, and Include or Exclude the filter values (dimensions) as required.
- Filter values that are relevant to the selected event automatically populate in the drop-down list. You can add multiple filters to a step. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to add multiple steps
- Click Apply. You will see the chart preview,
To modify the funnel configuration and filter value (dimension) post preview, click Modify and make the necessary changes.

Use Case
Scenario: Identify customers left from any page(stage/step) during the product promotion process. It could be due to poor experience, a slow site, unexpected costs, or other factors that influence the objective (points allocation) during an email promotion.
Solution: Here, the funnel chart helps visualize points allocation conversion steps through different transition levels. You can focus on the events - Added to cart and Cart view, where many audiences are not moving towards the goal.
The following are the detailed data of the funnel chart presentation
Events | Number of customers | Customer attrition rate (%) |
---|---|---|
Product clicked | 301 | 0% |
Product clicked > Product view | 301 | 0% |
Product view > Add to cart | 277 | 7% |
Add to cart > Cart View | 277 | 0% |
Cart view > Point issue | 27 | 90% |
