Customer Labels
Create and manage labels to tag and categorize your organization's customers from the self-serve Customers entity page.
A label is a tag you attach to a customer to categorize or group them, for example marking someone as a "VIP" customer or as having opted in to your newsletter. This page is where you manage your organization's catalog of customer labels: create new labels, edit their details, and retire the ones you no longer use.
A label can also have an expiry configuration. After the configured duration or date, the label expires and is automatically removed from the customer.
Use cases
Use customer labels to identify and group customers who share a trait:
- VIP: Identify your highest-spending customers so support and marketing teams can recognize them separately from your general customer base.
- Newsletter Opt-in: Identify customers who consent to marketing emails, to build an email campaign list.
- Summer-Sale-2026: Identify customers included in a specific promotion. Set an expiry date matching the promotion's end date, so the label is removed automatically when the promotion ends.

FAQs
Q: Can I delete a label instead of deactivating it?
A: No. Deleting isn't available for labels. Deactivating hides it from active use without removing its history.
